More often than not, you’ll find Aero Tech’s
president and chief pilot, Ted Stallings, in the cockpit flying sorties
and directing fleet maneuvers. Ted is a commercial-rated fixed-wing and
helicopter pilot with a lifetime of flying experience.
Ted started flying as a young man, spraying
brush for his father’s aerial applications business. He performed in
competitive aerobatics, and was a 3rd-place winner in an international
competition that pit him against 54 competitors from 9 countries. He
also flew in air shows nationwide. In 1984, he took the helm of his
father’s Aero Tech business.
Since then, Ted has expanded the company’s
fleet, crew and services to build Aero Tech into the world-class aerial
applications and aviation business it is today.
A hands-on, client-focused business operator,
Ted has made personal service a hallmark of Aero Tech’s business
protocol. If you ask Aero Tech clients what they like about working with
Aero Tech, they consistently cite the knowledgeable and personal
service.

In 2003, the U.S. Department of the
Interior’s Bureau of Land Management recognized Aero Tech as the Air
Tanker Operator of the Year, citing our “superior performance and
dedication to the national single engine air tanker program.” Our crew
and staff earned the honor doing what they do best, providing excellent
customer service with dedication to their work and safety.
Aero Tech employs the best – highly trained and experienced pilots,
mechanics and support personnel. With thousands of hours logged by our
pilots in the AT-802 alone, Aero Tech has the flying expertise for all
types of weather and terrain. Our pilots are FAA-certified, instrument
rated, OAS-carded, and hold commercial pesticide applicators’ licenses
and numerous certifications for agricultural operations and chemical
applications. They perform consistently with unparalleled
professionalism, competence and enthusiasm.
Our pilots are backed by an outstanding ground crew, trained to support
Aero Tech’s highly efficient aerial dispersal programs. The ground crew
provides expertise for logistical coordination, rapid-fire loading
operations, refueling, GPS data analysis, record keeping, and the
handling of hazardous materials. Support personnel are trained and
certified in hazardous material handling to protect themselves, the
public and the environment.
Aero Tech’s chief mechanic, an FAA-certified Inspector of Aircraft,
works with our service technicians to keep our aircraft in peak
operating condition. Scheduled maintenance, repairs, and FAA-required
inspections are performed regularly, and preventive maintenance is
conducted on a more rigorous schedule than the FAA or manufacturers
require. Our staff regularly attends Pratt & Whitney and Air Tractor
training programs.
